Honestly, losing 7 straight to the Pirates is a worse stretch than starting the season 3-23 or whatever.

Reds hit another low, drop seventh straight game to last-place Pirates

After the Reds’ franchise-worst start to begin the season, opening the year with a 3-22 record to end their playoff hopes in April, they’ve posted a 4-16 record in their last 20 games.

It’s a depleted roster from all the MLB players they’ve traded to boost their farm system, plus a long list of injuries.

The Reds were an 83-win team last year, the first club outside of the National League playoff picture.

The roster purge began immediately as ownership sought to lower player payroll. Sonny Gray, Jesse Winker, Eugenio Suárez and Amir Garrett were traded on the first days of spring training. Luis Castillo, Tyler Mahle, Brandon Drury, Tommy Pham and Tyler Naquin dealt at the trade deadline.

What’s left is a team in the depths of a rebuild.

There have been only seven seasons in Reds history with a worse winning percentage than this current 60-96 team – and six of those seasons came before World War II. The outlier was the 1982 Reds that finished with a 61-101 record.

Well, a loss to the Pirates today. That helps the cause.
2-4 or worse, Reds.. I have faith in you. Let's get to 100 losses and put this season in the Reds Hall of Shame.
I know everyone on the Reds is trying their best, but they just got murdered by the Pirates (I believe 7 straight losses)
That's got to be deflating, especially with the extra inning loss today. I only saw one half inning, when the Pirates went up 3-0 early, then I gave up.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

    90, 100, 110 losses

    Doesn’t matter…all equate to losers.

The highlight of the year to me was taking 2 out of 3 from the Yankees in the Bronx. Both those games in dramatic 9th inning fashion as well.

It's ironic though they lose those two games, 100 losses would seem close to a slam dunk with how things are going.

it was the highlight of the year-a great series. And looking back they actually put a bit of a competitive team on the field. Then Bob decided to trash things again.
They have now lost 17 of their last 21 to bookend their 3-22 start.

4 out of the 6 were during the tanking plan. It serves as a cautionary tale concerning tanking on purpose.

I’d guess the Reds would say the opposite. That their biggest mistake was straying from tanking the first time, after 2018-19.

They’d say that tanking will bring their payroll down to an area from which they can operate. That when saddled with bigger contracts they get stuck with bad or limited teams.

At this point, after all the waiting for Reds to be relevant, I don’t have much appetite for that defense. I’m sick of the lousy teams. But that’s their theory, we’ll see if they stick to it this time.

Discussing the Reds futility is futile.

I agree. They simply haven't tanked enough to be successful.
