    RIP Taylor Hawkins

Drummer for arguably the greatest rock band of the 21st Century.

    Awful.

Drummer/ingenue. Still the greatest video ever.

I'll see your Everlong and raise you "Learn to Fly" (a mild "Airplane" rip-off, with bonus Tenacious D!), featuring Taylor in at least two different acting roles!

This sucks and will hurt for a while, but for tonight, it's a good excuse to re-enjoy a lot of awesome things.

When I think of Taylor Hawkins, this video plays in my head.

I was a fan of the first 3 Foo Fighters records, especially self titled and There is Nothing Left to Lose. Colour felt like a singles album to me and the other 2 felt like solid album albums that happened to have 1-3 songs hit the radio.

That hurts. Fantastic drummer and a great guy. RIP.

I could honestly see this being the end of the Foo Fighters. He and Grohl were best friends. Sort of like John Bonham with Led Zeppelin, I could see the band deciding not to move forward without him.

Entirely possible. That's a tightknit band. Really glad they got their RnR HOF call prior to this.

And the greatest testimonial to Hawkins' drumming chops was getting picked by Dave Grohl to drum for the Foos. Talk about an endorsement.

    A ringing endorsement for sure.

William Goldsmith quit the Foos because he and Grohl were disagreeing over drum parts and Dave wound up recording most of the drum parts on Colour and The Shape. So yea, being hand picked like that is a big compliment.

I read somewhere that Dave still did some of the drum parts on Nothing Left To Lose because Taylor was having some confidence issues and trying to find his identity but that every album since then was all Taylor.

Makes sense after having read that. Grohl is my favorite drummer of all times and the drums on “Learn to Fly” just scream Dave Grohl to me, right down to the snare flams and just the overall feel of the groove. There’s a few others I’m suspicious on but LTF seems certain to me.

If they ever picked a fill in, Richard Greenway would be at head of the list.

Matt Cameron would be a solid fill in too.

I just don’t know if I see them carrying on without Taylor though. He and Dave were as tight as tight could be. I suppose there’s always the “he would have wanted the band to go on” angle, but I dunno.

    Such a sad loss.

Foo Fighters are great. And their relationship with Letterman is one that always comes to mind. So many memorable performances on his show, including his finale.

    Sad,

Taylor Hawkins had 10 substances in his system when he died, officials say

Among the drugs found by a urine toxicological test performed by officials were marijuana, opioids, tricyclic antidepressants and benzodiazepines, the statement said. An exact cause of death was not announced, and the National Institute of Forensic Medicine continues to investigate, the attorney general said.

Local health officials said Saturday that Bogotá's emergency regulatory center had received a report of a patient with chest pain Friday night. Health officials responding to the scene performed the respective resuscitation maneuvers, but they were unsuccessful and the patient died.

I think we now know why he died so young. That'll do it
