I believe that the curse came about when the Reds had too much Brennaman. When it was just Marty, that was fine.

In the early 90s, they hired Thom and now the abundance of Brennaman cursed this team for decades. It required the removal of both Brennamans to fully rid the team of this curse.

I think they are playing with fire by broadcasting those Laura's Lean Ground Beef commercials with Marty and his wife.

Also think about it - they suspend Thom last year, shortly after the 2020 Reds catch fire and slide into the playoffs, although they get trounced by the Braves because they haven’t fully gotten rid of Thom yet.

Over the offseason, he’s officially let go for good and the organization is definitively Brennaman free, and what happens? The Reds lose their minds and catch fire and score 50,000 runs the first week.

I’m a believer.

I was surprised to hear in last night’s broadcast that he’s a low spin rate guy, but it makes sense.

For a guy who is so hittable, his lifetime BAA is .236.

I also kind of agree like, despite his swagger out there, his body language strikes me as being a little shaken when he’s under pressure or in high leverage situations. He doesn’t visually strike me as a guy with a killer mentality in those situations.
