He's throwing 95-97 with a plus slider. He needs to be at the very least given a real shot at the rotation next spring.

    Chapman!

And there's the problem with Votto in a nutshell. Content to score that run rather than drive it in.

    He's throwing 94, not 95-97.

He's also 22, he's had some bouts with control, and has just 25 games of experience above A ball. I'm okay with giving him a real look in spring training, but there's no need to rush.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

If you were a starter Aroldis you could run the bases all the time.

Any one think that Billy may have a tough time getting his CF job back?

I'm guessing he will get an invite to spring training. I thought you were advocating bringing him up to the bigs right now.

There's a good 50 fans left in Wrigley.

For one it's only his 2nd full year of professional baseball, so he is most likely on an innings limit, which he is probably close to reaching since he only pitched 84 innings last year and is at 131 this season. Also, he was really bad last year, this is the first time in his professional career he has seen success, why not end the season on a high note (the minor league season ends like next week) and let him rest for a couple months so he can come in ready to impress in ST and push for a rotation spot? I see no reason to stop his development early for 2, maybe 3 starts in September in meaningless action.

I will ask you again: have you ever actually seen him pitch? Why are you so convinced he is ready to pitch at the major league level?

Cueto had 21 games above A-ball before he was promoted. Wacha had 27 games total in the minors, just to name a couple of examples.

Another thing he has in common with Cueto, is that the staff at the big league level was in shambles in 2008 just as it is today. If he's good enough next spring to be in the Reds starting 5, then you give him his shot.

I wouldn't mind seeing him now, but I understand if they don't want to. Based strictly on financial reasons, not because of "development"
