Michelle Yeoh won the SAG. Not always a guarantee of the Oscar, but she has to be considered the favorite over Blanchet now.

All Quiet won the BAFTA. Same deal but for Best Picture.

Not that it means a lot for this year's awards, but I liked 1917 better than All's Quiet. Still a good movie. Just wonder if others will be inclined to make that comparison.

Trying to avoid spoilers, but it’s going exactly as predicted so far. Expecting a big sweep.

Shouldn’t matter where it happened, the best performance is the best performance. That said, I have no problem with Jamie Lee Curtis’ win.

Hmmmm, using official stage and air time to promote Disney’s Little Mermaid… now who owns ABC again?

No real surprises, and a sweep by exactly who everyone expected.

Overall a good show. Kimmel was solid, funny, unspectacular, and it actually ran under on time, can’t remember that ever happening before. It seems the pitch clock worked well I will say I did not have Cocaine Bear assaulting Malala on my Oscars bingo card.

Some excellent speeches, I teared up a few times , especially when one of the Daniel’s used his time to thank his favorite public school teachers. I have met Brendon Fraser about a half a dozen times, and he was the mensch everyone says he is, so nice to see him win.

It’s funny, for the past few years, I’ve been really upset at the nominations, especially the snubs, but they keep picking the winners I want for the most part, even surprising with Coda last year, so I forgive them for now. I am sure the cycle repeat again next year.
