Love Lorenzen, hopefully he found a new home in the rotation.

So, 0.5 game back after tonight, assuming Brewers hold onto their 10 run lead? Don't tease us like this, Reds.
"In our sundown perambulations of late, through the outer parts of Brooklyn, we have observed several parties of youngsters playing 'base', a certain game of ball. Let us go forth awhile, and get better air in our lungs. Let us leave our close rooms, the game of ball is glorious"

Tonight was an object lesson in "Hey, maybe Reds' decision makers know more than us fans, afterall." Based on my eyeballs, I would have much rather seen Antone or Sims get an emergency start, and my jaw dropped when Bell said "This isn't a bullpen game, this is a full blown start for Lorenzen." [Certain "performance artists" with strong opinions about a particular outfielder might do well to at least consider learning from this object lesson. Ahem.]
Nothing in the public record indicated that Lorenzen was the best choice to deliver 3 innings, much less that he could last 5 in good shape. But hey, there's all the evidence you need. Good call by the Reds, even better performance by Lorenzen, and I guess I'll go ahead and take a sip of the Kool-Aid and put him in the discussion for a rotation spot.

Garrett may not be ready to move beyond 7-8 inning and pitcher to use vs lefties. He sometimes has control problems and then elevates pitches in the zone.

I probably would not vote for more Lorenzen starts. Great work today, but I thought the Pirates generally had good swings on him and just didn’t do much. Polanco was a saviour tonight. A better team might have hit him around tonight.

...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.
