I'm going to guess Tina Turner and Jay-Z are automatics, and I'm a bit surprised Carole King isn't in there. Going on the theory that max two of the guitar groups has a chance, I'll say the Go-Go's and Foos, in that order, have the best shot. Fela Kuti's one of those "Is he rock and roll?" candidates that I assume is a sure thing, kind of like Nina Simone last year. I don't have a lot of hope that Iron Maiden will make it, but it would be nice to see them get in while they can still ride the lightning. I'd think Devo would be a critic's darling, but if they were they'd have been in decades ago.

On a separate note, I want Guided By Voices on the ballot.
Agree about Tina Turner, not sure about Jay-Z, at least this year. I think Carole King is a lock. Todd Rundgren probably doesn't make it, but he has that critic's darling thing going for him, so it's possible.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Iron Maiden actually makes it in. Metal is sorely underrepresented, and enough non-metal fans like them that I can see it happening.

No Warren Zevon, no Squeeze, therefore the nominations are just more garbage. The HOF jumped the shark when they put Journey in a few years back.

i just perused the list of members. No Townes Van Zandt. Hmmm..
I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

Yeah. It makes no sense that she's not in. So many lesser known performers have made it.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

How can Carole King not already be in the HOF? Just ridiculous.

    She IS in the HOF:

In 1990, King was inducted, along with Goffin, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the non-performer category for her songwriting achievement
I'm guessing that if she's inducted again it will be as a performer.

Kinda like how Tina Turner is also already in the HOF but she's in for her work with Ike. If she's inducted again it would be for her solo work.

Now, it's a matter of if those two deserve a 2nd induction.

This isnt a hall of bands some people really like.

Journey is in over Squeeze every time. Dont Stop Believin' has a billion listens.

I dont think Squeeze has 100,000 Americans that know one single song.

I'd take that bet. The other stuff you said is correct

I'm fairly certain you left a few 0's of 100,000. And I really hate Journey, so I'm not a neutral observer. Almost every stupid High School dance with a dumb Journey title as a theme...Ugh.

It kind of is. Arguably, one of the main flaws with the RRHOF is it needs better snobs as its gatekeepers.

    ^^^^^^^

Why should Townes Van Zandt be in a hall of fame?
