I'm not gonna complain about using him in a 5-0 game

Don't put him on the roster if you can't use him down 5-0

I'm concerned about this Angels series. On the road. What a screwy schedule this year.

How I view first pitch outs depends on what's happened to the hitters before.

You and Tom are right. I just get so disgusted sometimes. We've seen this almost every at-bat from him. Drives me crazy. I guess you can tell I'm not one of his fans.

What is with this team and being less than 3 games under .500 that just causes them to meltdown?

The bullpen pitched 3.2 innings and allowed only 1 run (on a solo HR) on 3 hits. They did their job.

I understand. I always root for all the Reds, but we all have guys who we don't miss after they move on. (Edwin Encarnacion is an example for me.)

But sometimes the first pitch is the best pitch you're going to see.

Yes, it was all Disco. The extra run didn't help, though.

Yes, if you are a "get the pitch count up guy"! But that is usually if its the starter you want to break through against. In this case, no.

For sure. Disco melting down after striking out the first 6 was the difference.

Sure, but people looking at today's pitching performance and focusing on the one run Zach Duke gave up on a single swing of the bat in 1.2 innings are picking nits.

They are always in the game - that's good management and decent fight. Bell always gives them a fighting chance -i think he's doing a heckuva job as manager. Things will even out over a long season. He used 3 guys in the BP who did a pretty good job and the major dudes get a 2 day rest because of that. Smart.

Duke, for all his faults, has a lower ERA than Disco. Today isn’t on him.

I'm not normally a big fan of intentional walks, especially to load the bases, but they really should have walked Moustakas with 1B open to load up the bases with one out for Braun. Not an ideal situation there but lefties are Disco's killer, I'd have taken my chances to get Braun to GIDP and leave it at 2-0. Instead they pitched to Moose and he made it 4-0.
