Play the draft. Don't let the draft play you.

that Davion Taylor story is crazy....did not play in high school games because of religious reasons....

Davion’s mother adheres to the practices of the Commandment Keepers and observes the Sabbath from sundown on Fridays through sundown on Saturdays. That meant Davion couldn’t play high school football.

If there's no games this Winter, I imagine the draft order would be some sort of lottery weighted towards the order that it was this year.

Because players will have finished the schooling.

Why draft when there will be no crowds? Or more far more importantly money wise, I assume the tv contracts with ESPN, Fox, CBS have escape clauses. Without tv $, major sports will become DOA.

There is a whole lot more to contemplate.

The NFL could actually charge more as viewership should increase. Only a small amount of the revenue comes from paid attendance in any sport.

From Rotoworld with Rotoworld comments:

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Redskins LT Trent Williams declined the team's proposed trade to the Vikings.

Vikings added a first-round talent, Ezra Cleveland, to shore up Kirk Cousins' blindside in the second round of Saturday's festivities, leading Williams to reportedly nix any movement to Minnesota in the process. Whether the Vikings have done well in the draft (and they have through two nights) is a moot point as their organization was realistically one of the last remaining suitors for 31-year-old Williams to land with. At this point, it can't be completely thrown out that he steps away from football entirely in 2020. There's no conclusion to report as long as Williams refuses to play for Washington and, on the other end of the spectrum, other franchises refuse to give in to his lucrative demands. He remains up for grabs as one of the best left tackles in all of football.

Most NFL fans could care less if there are any crowds at the games because most of us don't attend them. Most Bengals season ticket holders could care less if they ever won a playoff game. It was always more important to them to have their tailgate parties and see their friends. They can still do that with the same 40-50 people that would get together for the tailgate parties. It just wouldn't be at Paul Brown Stadium. And what do the NFL teams care about when it comes to fans in attendance? Raiders left Oakland. Rams left Los Angeles, then left St. Louis. Chargers left San Diego. Browns left Cleveland. Colts left Baltimore. Jaguars might leave Jacksonville. So on and so forth. Every single dollar generated from the sold-out Blazer games all year long doesn't even pay for Lillard's annual salary. And, players get 50% of the revenue. The Atlanta Hawks gate revenue doesn't even pay for their Coach's and Assistants' salaries.

I’d be happy if the Bengals got the first pick again and either 1. Took Penei Sewell or 2. Auctioned Trevor Lawrence to the highest bidder.

To be honest, the only fair thing to do is to have a lottery and possibly a snake draft. Can you imagine the ratings for that thing? It'd be a monster.

Winners so far, in alphabetical order.

Arizona Cardinals-- Isaiah Simmons and Josh Jones
Only two picks, but both will help immediately. Simmons has a chance to be an LT type of player-- three downs (at least) roaming all over the field to make plays. My favorite for Rookie Defensive Player of Year. Jones can play inside or out and grades out as huge value from where he was picked.

Carolina-- Derrick Brown, Yetur Gross-Matos, Jeremy Chinn
All defense, all the time. Bridgewater has no help (so far), but Brown and Gross-Matos will immediately make their defensive line a major strength. (Both will have to be double-teamed.) And Chinn is a monster at safety.

Cincinnati-- Burrow, Higgins, and Logan Wilson
Stayed in their lane and drafted well-regarded players. Didn't screw up. I like Wilson's speed and ability to play against both the run and pass. All three will start from Day One in positions of need.

New Orleans-- Cesar Ruiz, Zack Baun, Adam Trautman
The rich get richer. Ruiz was the best graded interior lineman, by far, in the draft. He's a bit of an overdraft, but nabbing Baun late certainly helps that. Trautman is a mismatch nightmare who's going to Jimmy Graham the league in a couple of seasons.

New York Giants-- Andrew Thomas, Xavier McKinney, Matt Peart
Love the focus on football players. Thought they should move back to nab Thomas, but McKinney was the steal of the draft so far, and I love Peart's upside (huge, athletic, and willing) and versatility.

New York Jets-- Mekhi Becton, Denzel Mims, Ashtyn Davis, Jabari Zuniga
Hit four levels for help. Becton is a road grader with massive upside. Zuniga is a DL who can play run and pass. (Better, IMO, against the run.) Mims was a steal. Davis is really good too. Just a solid, solid job making the team better.

Tampa-- Tristan Wirfs, Antoine Winfield, Ke'Shawn Vaughn
Wirfs is young and his upside is big. Winfield might be John Lynch Redux. Vaughn is a change of pace back who's a willing (and capable) blocker and patch catcher out of the backfield. All three will help immediately.

Washington-- Chase Young, Antonio Gibson
Love the upside play and willingness to pick upside. Young's going to be a problem for any team who tries to block him. Gibson can play in the backfield, at H back, or in the slot. He might be the best open-field runner in the draft.

Heh - Comissioner Goodell said the first round on Thursday set a viewership record. Given the times, I think it's safe to say that we have the ultimate in captive audiences. :p

Lots of ways the Bengals could go. An OL would make the fanbase happy, but you have Curtis Weaver sitting there as an edge and with only two corners signed beyond 2020, Amik Robertson could be tempting.

That is a prescient point.

The Cardinals have gotten a sure-fire All-Pro, the best athlete in the draft, and a would-be first round guy in the third.

Might be the best draft.

So far.

I think that now that we're done with the first 3 rounds 2021 draft picks are more likely to be involved.

That’s my team, always doing the right thing!

Still, a lot of the Trent Williams situation is the legacy that horrible Bruce Allen left behind, and at least Allen is gone now. Part of me is surprised they were even able to get what they did, considering Trent was very public about wanting out and Washington’s leverage was declining by the day.

Nope, and it's only been done once on offense. The 1985 Browns traded 5 of their 12 draft picks and used the other 7 on offense. Technically the Saints used every pick on offense the year they traded their whole draft for Ricky Williams, but that doesn't really count.

Good explanation of Shadow Draft...

When your team picks before they make their selection you put out who you would take instead...
