Giants are looking for an OF. Okrent is 24 y.o. lefty K-artist who's already seen some big-league innings. Austin Slater is an OF/2b raking in AA.

Moustakas out for the season with a torn ACL. Bruce could replace his pop in the lineup
    Hoping for another Reds October

    Re: Royals interested in Bruce?

I could see a Bruce trade happening soon with either the Royals or Giants. We know their systems well after trading with them last year, and June is around the corner to avoid Super 2 status. Here's my ideas:

    1) Bruce and Hamilton to KC- KC gets some lefty pop to replace Moose, and Gordon, and can DH. Hamilton gives them a speedy 4th OF and Gold Glove CF, but ho hum hitter.

--Reds get a) Jorge Bonifacio OF(AAA) #16 prospect
    b) Ryan O'Hearn 1b/OF(AA) # 13 Prospect
    c) Brooks Pounders RHRP(AAA) #29 Prospect

    2) Bruce and 1million(option year buyout) to SF- Bruce helps add depth to a strong Giants team, and provide a rental option to spell Pence.

---Reds get a) Steve Okert LHRP(AAA) #16 prospect
    b) Austin Slater 2B (AA) # 20 prospect

But if the Royals make a major move for a bat now, won't it have to be a third baseman?

We think Jay is bad in RF. Can you imagine him at third?

If I'm the Reds I'd try and sell them Suarez and Bruce in a package for Zimmer, Starling and Dozier. Though that's a bit pie in the sky.

Still, targeting Dozier would be great.

    Pete Rose played third base.

I agree about cashing in on Suarez. I know a ton of people around here are high on him, but he's league average at best and he's not going to be cheap when the Reds get good again. Reds need to amass more talent, including some elite talent to make the rebuild work.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

As and Astros philosophy was to flip and flip again. Suarez is a decent flip again candidate.

Yeah, now would definitely be the time to flip Suarez, IMO. He'll never have higher value and I agree that he's mostly an average player even though I like him a lot. With Moustakas going down I think taking the proven options in Bruce + Suarez would be a good bet as well as a nice gamble from our FO. Getting Dozier back would be nice, but I'd be more interested in a return of Zimmer + Starling (though something tells me that's highly unlikely).

I don't completely disagree with the idea of trading Suarez...but you guys have been watching the games, right? Right now would be a horrible time to trade him given his putrid May would depress his value. If he starts hitting again, see what teams might offer.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

If I were the Royals GM I would be talking Cozart and Suarez. Escobar needs to be on the bench backing up the infield defensively. Suarez is needed to replace Moustakis. And the Royals have pretty good outfield depth already - fast, speedy, line drive and slap hitters (Cain, Gore, Eibner, Dyson, Orlando) plus Gordon as the hammer (once back from DL he'll get there, right now he's getting the Votto treatment from fans). I'd talk any package of prospects except Mondesi and Zimmer.

Now we just need to draft Carlos Correa and have a mediocre pitching prospect turn in to a Cy Young winner.

after seeing what the Phillies got for Giles the Reds need to be open to trading anyone. a guy like Suarez is productive, cheap and controlled. he would net more than a guy with a year left on his deal and owed $$$.

in recent Reds history think of the Latos deal in reverse.
