Bruce, Cozart, and a pitching prospect not named Reed for Bonifacio, Dozier, and Mondesi?

    Isn't Mondesi currently suspended?
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

Thinking this through, the White Sox, Indians, and Royals are all in the same division. That right there might put the Indians over the top on Frazier, or make the Royals include 2 top prospects instead of one. A skilled negotiator could play the three teams against each other and extract the most value. Bruce, Cozart, and Straily all have value; all three teams could use Bruce, and two teams could use Cozart and Straily. Let's hope the Reds play this and get all that they can.

Ehhh. Bonifacio and Dozier are both coming off two straight poor years, and Mondesi has a lot of potential but has a suspension and hasn't hit yet. Pass.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

And if I was the Reds GM I would actually care about such things.

I think a bat is a must, I know one can never have too much pitching but the Reds seem to have a lot of it in prospects.

Bruce is coming off a poor year as well, and Cozart isn't getting any better.

IMO there aren't any "musts" in a particular deal. The possible Bruce deal is not the be all and end all of player acquisitions. The Reds are about to make about 50 draft choices and will get hitters there. There will be other deals.

Trades are hard, limited number of interested teams and limited number of available players. Focus on value, not position on this one, in my view.

serious question: last off season we thought we'd get a good return for Frazier & Chapman. it didn't happen. the Reds asked for top prospects but teams weren't willing to give them up. so why are there so many guys here who think we can get these top prospects now for Bruce when we couldn't get them for Frazier & Chapman?

I think they would have received better returns if they had traded them at the deadline. Find a team desperate enough to overpay. Teams aren't usually desperate in the off season

Its mainly about the desperation of other teams. Look at the Cueto and Leake deals made at the deadline. Both good deals for us. This is a good year because there is a lot of teams in the race with corner outfield /power bat needs. I dont expect an elite(top 50) prospect but would not be shocked to see a team part ways with some solid talent for Jay. Despite his past two years and comical streakiness, he is a feared bat in the back/middle part of a contending teams lineup.
