62. He called "Heads" and it was Heads. He won the coin toss, reportedly, saying, "That's the first time I've ever won anything in my life." But winning the coin toss turned out to cost him his life.
Who won the flip of a coin but lost his life as a result?

63. What is the shortest song ever to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 ? It was 1 min. , 37 seconds of pure bliss. GREAT song!!!

64. Two guys, one from Liverpool and one from Texas, found themselves at the same party in Hollywood. It was a high brow event but both guys were dressed in jeans and t-shirts, so they gravitated to each other. They became fast friends, started writing songs, and formed a band. Their bass player would later go on to become a well known soap opera star. The name of their band came about as band members were watching an old movie and noticed a term used for the actors in the movie credits. They dropped in "s" in the word and their band name was born.
Their signature song is a great one, featuring great vocals, some killer riffs , and one really, really high note. In the late 70's, it reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for three weeks. The song is licensing Gold, and has been used in many commercials, including one for Hooters , during the pandemic , and an older ad for a Swiffer WetJet. The song came about as a result of a conversation two of the band members had with one another about their recent difficult breakups. We've all pined over our lost loves , haven't we? Why in the hell didn't I write this song ?
Who's the band and what's the classic song?

Yep, it was Ritchie.
,
Waylon willingly gave up his seat to J.P. , who was ill. The original occupants were supposed to be Holly , Jennings and , guitarist, Tommy Allsup. Jennings voluntarily allowed the Big Bopper to have his seat, while Ritchie asked Tommy if he could have his seat. Tommy didn't want to give up his seat on the plane, so a coin was flipped. Ritchie won...and then lost...BIGTIME.
I always found young Ritchie's words after winning the coin toss pretty sad and haunting: "I've never won anything before in my life."
Also, that night after the show in Clear Lake and after Waylon had agreed to let the Big Bopper fly in his place , Holly jokingly said to Waylon, "I hope your ol' bus freezes up. " In response, Waylon quipped back , "I hope your ol' plane crashes."
Waylon said, even though they were said in jest to his friend, those words haunted him every day of his life after that night.

65. The Bee Gees began their amazing run of disco success with their #1 hit "You Should Be Dancing" in 1976. I bet you'll never guess in a million years the rock superstar who played timbales on that record? I won't give you a million years to think on it but I will give you a day or so.
Hint: He is primarily known as a member of a threesome...or foursome.

Stephen Stills was recording an album in the same studio complex in Miami when the Bee Gees were recording Children of the World . He dropped in on the Bee Gees session and loved the song. He thought it was a sure fire chart topper and wanted to play percussion on the record. Stephen Stills has noted that "You Should Be Dancing" was his first platinum-selling single.
Don't know about you all but I have a hard time seeing Stephen getting down to this song on a disco floor, but apparently the song hit all the right notes for him. He loved this song.

66. This singer / songwriter had but one #1 hit, but it was a memorable one. The song was inspired by a poem written by the singer's wife about her distant relationship with her father. The singer adapted the poem after his own son, Josh , was born. The chorus was inspired by nursery rhymes like "Hey Diddle Diddle" and Little Boy Blue." The singer died in his 1975 Volkswagon Rabbit.
Who was the singer/songwriter and what was his #1 hit?
