NBA hands 76ers' Paul George 25-game suspension for drug-policy violation
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/nba-h...licy-violationPaul George was suspended 25 games by the NBA for violating the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program, the league announced in a statement on Saturday.
The league did not disclose the nature of George’s violation, but in a statement to ESPN, the nine-time NBA All-Star said he was "taking an improper medication."
"Over the past few years, I’ve discussed the importance of mental health, and in the course of recently seeking treatment for an issue of my own, I made the mistake of taking an improper medication. I take full responsibility for my actions and apologize to the Sixers organization, my teammates and the Philly fans for my poor decision making during this process," his statement read."

They are still developing players. Caleb Love and Sidy Cissoko will both be converted from 2-way's. While Sharpe has improved a lot on both sides of the ball, he's still lackadaisical too often, and careless with the ball at all times. He should not be handling the basketball.
If POR doesn't convey their 1st Round pick to CHI this year or next (by either making a deal with them, or by making the playoffs as the 8th seed, minimum), then CHI gets the 2nd best if MIL/POR/BOS pick in 2028.
Kris Murray has developed well this season. Rayan Rupert (21 years of age, another young Frenchman like Cissoko) has finally taken a big step forward. Clingan has taken another step forward in his 2nd season.
I hope that Robert Williams III is not traded, as he's necessary as Clingan's backup. Yang Hansen cannot be that person. Not this year. Not next year. Not the year after.
Like the Pacers, the Blazers need PG's. Without Deni at full strength (his back issue has made him ineffective when he's playing now), Jrue Holiday hasn't demonstrated that he can lead this poor-shooting (dead last in 3-pt% in the NBA, yet they take the 2nd or 3rd most attempts per game...go figure) squad to a 100 Offensive Rating. With a healthy Deni, it's a 118 Offensive rating.
Scoot Henderson is listed as doubtful for the first time this season. He's probably going to finally make his season debut sometime during this home-stand. Blake Wesley just came back in the last game and he was very effective. The more people available so that Sharpe isn't handling the ball, the better. Same goes for Jeremi Grant, who since he has come back, is part of the mess that the Blazers are in Offensively and Defensively.
The rest of the season will be, "can Tiago Splitter find a way to get this team competitive again now that he'll have PG's for the first time this season?" Unfortunately, what looked like a 7th seed in the play-in less than two weeks ago has turned into a scramble to make the 10th seed. Most of this has to do with both the loss of Avdija and the return of Grant and Holiday. Over this period of time, RWIII has easily been the team's best player. He looks really good. Even in 30-pt losses, he's a postive +/- when he's been on the floor. Clingan has been dominated at the Defensive end lately because Grant has been starting and he's getting no help in the paint from Grant. Cissoko was starting and helping quite a bit with a lot of energy.
Getting Vit for Reath, whom the Blazers would have waived if they had to in order to get Love/Cissoko contracts coverted, was outstanding as Vit easily becomes the best 3-pt shooter on the team, and it's not even close. He needs to continue to put up his 5 attempts per game, and hopefully more. At 6'-8" and at under $3M per season through '27-'28, he's a major steal for a 25-year old that fits into the timeline of players the Blazers want and as an switching player who can guard all five spots. His Defense will improve. The effort's there. He's not Sharpe. Shaedon is young, but I don't think he'll ever change his lackadaisical ways. It looks like he can for spurts, but he reverts back to his natural state time and time again. Having Holiday, RWIII and Matisse around should be helping him, along with Splitter, but without PG's, POR has turned into a plodding, slow team. They can get back to pushing the PACE again.

Are the Jazz trying to get better with the Jaren Jackson trade? It's so confusing, because the Jazz have been in tank mode for so long and essentially making their fans angry when they win.

WTH are the Bulls doing?
That’s two deals today where they’ve brought in a guard/s. Now they have Giddey, White, Dosunmu, Jones, Conley, Ivey, and Simmons. Maybe Conley gets let go but it still isn’t making any sense.
Conley going back to MIN as FA. Pretty good move.

Local boy Luke Kennard traded to the Lakers. I’m not a big NBA fan but always have loved watching him play. From 5th grade on up, my sons teams always played Franklin, which was Luke’s high school team and Luke was a man amongst boys. Never forget the 1st time I saw him, as I was coaching our boys 5th grade team and there was simply no stopping him, no matter what defense we played. He handled the ball like a good high schooler, even at that young age. Loved watching him in high school and Duke too. Somewhere in a my videos, I have a video of that 5th grade game against him. I need to find that one and watch it with my son.
Noticed he was leading the NBA in 3 point percentage at 49.7 percent this year and 44.2 on his career.
Hope he plays well, even though I’m definitely not a Lakers fan.

Luke had a solid debut with the Lakers last night. 10-2-2 in 26 minutes. I know his high school coach well so I’ve been following his career pretty closely. Hopefully they can do some business in the playoffs, as Luke hasn’t been on too many teams that have made or advanced in the postseason.

Yea, I think he was also 4-7 from the field. Thats cool. I knew Luke’s dad Mark fairly well, as I played against him in high school and a few pickup games after HS. Mark was a very good player too, but nothing like his son. I’ll say this much, Luke seemed like a very good kid and everytime I’ve spoken with him, he was extremely polite. Most other people I’ve spoken with say the same thing about him. It’s definitely easy to root for someone like that. I’d like to see him do well in the playoffs too, even though I’m not a fan of the Lakers or LeBron.

Nice to get Scoot Henderson back Friday Night after a 316-day absence since his last game. He helped end a 5-game losing streak as he tossed in 11 pts and 9 Assists with a team-high +14 +/-. Rusty to begin, he quickly showed how much a True PG has beem missed as POR (2nd to last in the NBA in Assists/game w/ 22) spread the ball around for open looks towards 31 Assists. They followed that up without Scoot for 30 Assists Saturday Night. Instead of 1st or 2nd on the PG (Avdija being 1st, but a PF in a different way) depth chart for most of the season, 2-way player Caleb Love is now 5th on the depth chart with Blake Wesley 2nd to 4th, depending on availability of Deni and Jrue. Scoot is #1, but it will probably take the remaining 30 games to get into game-shape without minutes restrictions.
Just good to see a small resemblance of what this year's squad can look like come April.
