lol. We sound like the same person. My son texted me last night and said, man these guys are boring to watch. I followed that up by saying, don’t worry, they’ll probably get 7 hits tomorrow and scored 3 runs. lol Sleep well

It may not be very pretty, but the Reds haven't spent much time in first place over the last 30 years, so I'm enjoying the wins no matter how they happen!

Only 3 MLB teams have won more games than the Reds.

Matt McLain pretty obviously needs to flatten his swing and stop upper cutting the ball trying to hit it out.

Matt has only a 10.9% line drive rate and a 50% fly ball rate. In his best year, 2023, McLain’s average launch angle was 13.8%, but currently is 22.3%. Statcast shows he hits under the ball 37% of the time, whereas in 2023 he hit under the ball much less, 23.6%.

Appears he hasn’t learned much from last year, other than how to walk. I’m betting pitchers will stop walking him so much until he proves he can hit better. He’s been swinging for the fences for far too long now.

It's why I cringed when I heard he added even more muscle this offseason.

No doubt and those 7 spring training home runs probably didn’t help either. That’s clearly what he wants to be, but at 5’-9” and 180 pounds he should probably concentrate on what his body is best suited for. Speed, singles, doubles, with an occasional home run. If the coaches are telling him to launch the ball upward, that’s on them, but if it’s just Matt doing this on his own, he should be told to stop this nonsense.

It's obvious we're 10-7 on the backs of our strong pitching. Hard to believe after losing Greene and Lodolo. But as long as our pitching stays strong we got a chance in this division. I really don't believe this offense is this bad, and that it will improve. I still keep telling myself "It's early, and we're only halfway through April".

Well said GAC. I also think the Pirates offense isn't this good and will likely regress. Brewers are having some injury trouble with their offense and pitching trouble and a 6 game losing streak. Cubs are struggling - their pitching appears suspect, they didn't really replace Tucker, Bregman is struggling, and PCA had the worst chase rate in MLB at last check (even worse than Marte!)

Has anyone heard any injury update(s) on Pagan and Singer today?

If O'Neil Cruz has finally turned a corner offensively, he has all the tools to be a dominant force for the next 5+years for the Pirates.

Probably. It does, on occasion, happen though.
