Per Lance McAlister, this is the best start after. 18 games by a Reds team since 2006.

That's awesome......and a bit of a sad reflection on the last 20 years of our Red fan lives!

I didn't really consider how American League-heavy the beginning of this season would be. By the end of April, they'll have had 6 series with AL teams and 4 with NL teams. Only one series with a team in their division.

Compared to 2 series with AL teams in May and another 2 in June.

The crazy part is they really haven't started hitting yet.

If this pitching even remotely stays consistent and the hitting takes off, we got a stew going.

Benson not in the lineup today. His last AB came almost a week ago.

If they can get the 3,4, and 5 spots in this lineup hitting like they did yesterday, this offense will take off. And maybe it will be contagious.

That should make some people happy. It won't, but it should. There's still plenty of issues to whimper and snivel about.

I'm not saying Bleday or anyone else in Louisville will come up and start producing. Maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't. But we know what Benson is. I don't understand why he's with the team, at this point.

MLB.tv they have something that I often use after Reds games called the Big Inning. It's a square of up to 4 games at once. I don't know which game it was but one of the announcers started talking about Francona as a manager. It was something to the effect of "Terry Francona is the worst. If he doesn't like you, you won't see the field for a month. Ask Alex Cora sometime about Francona..."

So apparently Tito definitely has his dog house(s). When he sours on you, you don't play and he has a reputation for that

I'm pretty optimistic about the team right now, because Sal is pretty much a dream come true for what the lineup needed. Seems like Elly might be benefitting from hitting ahead of him too. If the rest of the lineup gets some meat on it's bones, watch out.

It's been pretty apparent watching him with the Reds. He canned Diaz and Candy in record time, then followed up with a CES demotion, and now it's Marte's turn. I think guys like Mey and Maxwell have an uphill battle to get back on the team as well. It looks Benson may be out of chances, and my guess is this is Hinds' last look before he joins the previously mentioned players. One thing I will say is that Tito hasn't been wrong about any of those guys he gave up on last year yet.

He really likes Benson and has given him plenty of opportunities. I think Tito is now done with giving Benson a shot as a starter, even a platoon starter and now he's giving him a shot at being the 26th man. We all know there's no 27th man so this is it for Benson. As you state, he's not been wrong thus I have no problem with it. Will he ever get to this point with KBH? I'm not so sure. It's like Francona views the 9th spot as an automatic out anyway so enjoy the defense at 3B
