Is The NL Central Sorting Itself Out?

A lot has been said about how good the NL Central is in 2026. Every team is above .500, and the division's total run differential blows everyone else out of the water. This is just a stacked quintet of teams with no obvious bottom feeder.

However, the division has started to sort itself out in May.

The Cincinnati Reds' smoke-and-mirrors act is starting to lose some steam, while the win-now Chicago Cubs have surged into first place behind multiple 10-game winning streaks.

Yet it's the Milwaukee Brewers who should probably be of the biggest concern, seeing as they're on a tear right now and have the best expected record in the division.

Anyone else get the feeling that MLB is never going to all ABS all the time? The fans seem to love these challenges.

How about the White Sox. 22-22 record. A game out of first place.

I said that after the first couple games this year. We have to get past the theatrics.

Calling it like I see it…

STL really isn’t a hatable franchise right now and I love the shirtless fan section that popped up.

Thoughts from Bos at Atl tonight:

Tom Browning wishes he worked as fast as Bryce Elder. Elder rarely threw a pitch with less than 8 seconds on the clock.

Teams should never pitch to Drake Baldwin in the first inning. 8 of his 13 HRs so far this year are in the first inning. (12 of the 13 are solo shots.)

I watched Kenley Jansen try to close for Det a few weeks ago. He’s done. Finito. Aroldis still has a little in the tank, but he was overthrowing (causing control problems) to top out at 96 or 97. Heck of a play for him to take a smoked ball off his ankle, race to the 1b line to pick it up and flip to first to end the game.

When Kim came up with the bases loaded, 2 outs and Atlanta down 1 in the bottom of the 9th, all of the Boston IFs were only a step in front of the outfield grass. Had Kim tried to bunt down the 3b line, Braves easily score a run to tie it.

I think it's interesting that half of MLB is below .500, and yet everyone in the NL Central is above it LOL

23-22 now. The NIL and transfer portal has really helped them!

No team seems to be immune from blowouts this year. Clearly the 2026 Atl Braves are a good team and they lost 12-0 to the sub .500 Fla Marlins yesterday

I thought they should use ABS all the time but I saw an article in The Athletic that made me think. One of the points it made is do we want every pitch called correctly? If you're in a blowout game and want to get out of there ASAP, you really want ABS calling a pitch a ball if it's 0.1" off the plate? Here's a free link to the article.

Cardinals put Nathan "Take Me To" Church on the 10 day IL with shoulder strain, and call up one of their top prospects, Bryan Torres, before today's game vs. the Reds.

Elias Diaz released by KC. Wouldn't he be a upgrade over Higgins?

Reds should have tried to sign Joe Ross and maybe they did. Signed minor league deal with Texas.

I know Joe Ross would be a upgrade over Paddack.

I don't know if Diaz is an upgrade over Higgins. He's probably an upgrade over Trevino.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!
