Abbott's Ks are way down. I think he's been impacted. He's got enough in his assortment to adjust and after a slow start, has adjusted. Some of these other guys were successful primarily because they could throw that high strike. Now they can't and don't have anything to turn to.
Petty has a 6.17 ERA in AAA and is up and down like a yo-yo. He's averaging less than 5 innings per start in AAA.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I've never seen Nick Kirby (from Chatterbox Reds) so demonstrably angry about two guys than he was about Mey and Maxwell. Nick is usually a very easy goin' , laid back guy but he wanted them sent down NOW, said they were AWFUL. Shouted it like four or five times during the after-game podcast. He is right.

Let’s see… Pagan, Johnson, and Ashcraft are hurt. The only pitch Tony Santillan can currently throw is a 91 mph batting practice meatball. None of the young guys - Maxwell, May, Phillips - can throw three strikes before they throw four balls and the league knows it.
We’re approaching 2021-level bullpen woes here. Somebody call Heath Hembree.
We don’t have enough offense to overcome this bullpen. It’s time to think about selling.

Cincinnati Reds get encouraging update on Hunter Greene and Elly De La Cruz
Read More Here:Reds manager Terry Francona spoke to reporters ahead of Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals and he gave encouraging updates on star players Hunter Greene and Elly De La Cruz
Greene, who has been out for the entire season, could return and make a couple of stars before the All-Star break, according to Charlie Goldsmith. His next step will be to throw in live batting practice sessions.
"He's doing really good," Francona said.
Francona provided a positive update on De La Cruz on Saturday. His MRI was originally supposed to be on Monday, June 15th. However, it will now be moved up to Friday, the 12th.
Goldsmith reported that De La Cruz was on the field before Saturday's game doing some light work.
On Friday, Jim Day said the hardest part with this recovery process is having De La Cruz take it easy and not push it too fast.

Brewers just got Old Friend Joel Kuhnel. Get ready to watch him dominate now.
The list of frustrating players far outweighs the list of players we're happy about.
Lowe, Bleday and Burke were good acquisitions. But TJ, Hayes, Singer look like they're done. Tired of waiting on MM, Phillips, Lodolo, Geno, Stephenson, Santillan to get it going.
How do they build a better roster at this point without trading away Steer, Stewart, Elly, Greene and Burns? More interesting question... When do the Bengals start playing and will they get a linebacker?
Until Krall is replaced with someone from outside the org nothing is going to change. He's outclassed by GM's on teams who spend way more $ than we do. There's no overcoming that, and to add insult to injury the Cards, Brewers, and Pirates are getting better results with a lower payroll. If a salary floor gets put in it's going to help those teams more than us. Our guy got fleeced by a division rival into taking on Hayes, and the Bucs turn around and use that $ to sign better players and pass us in the standings.

Fire everyone.

If you scan through the individual Reds pitching stats for 2025-2026, you see a a solid playoff staff that has all but collapsed. Last year’s rotation had three starters with ERAs in the 2s and 3s and the BOR guys in the 4s. This year you have Chase Burns around 2, Abbott around 4, and nobody else below 5. Nobody has been reliable other than Burns (great) and Abbott (yes, but considerably worse than 2025).
In the pen, what’s noticeable is that there’s a group that has been ok, including the three off-season pickups, based on ERAs. Ferguson, Moll, Burke, Johnson, Ashcraft, Antone. Some are now injured, but that group maxes out at a 3.75 ERA. (Moll, good ERA, but 1-5).
But after that 3.75 ERA (Antone), the next best is 5.40 and there are 10 relievers (excluding position guys) with ERAs from 5.40 to over 16.00. This excludes reliever Marte who’s even higher than that.
ERA is not determinative, I use it here as a short hand. ABS is new and could be having an effect.

In sum, there are three adverse things that have happened to the Reds pitching.
1. Guys doing worse than last year. Eg, Singer, Santillan, Abbott, Philips.
2. Guys getting injured for meaningful periods. Eg, Greene, Lodolo, Lowder, Ashcraft, Pagan, Ferguson, Johnson.
3. Insufficient replacements. Eg, Williamson, Paddack, the ten relievers with ERAs of 5.40 or worse.
That’s a lot of carnage and the results show.
For the handful of you that still complain endlessly about Elly, I hope this week has been a nice window in to life without him.
