Both Dak and Wilson have salary cap implications. Moving off Dak to Russ would be a dicey proposition unless Payton wants Dak, which I doubt

Never been a Cowboy fan going back to the old NFL days and Dallas was an expansion team. Heck I remember Eddie LeBaron and Don Meredith. Being a Browns fan then, just didn’t like them.
I went to a game around 1960 where the Cowboys played in Green Bay. It must've been the Cowboys first season . Landry alternated LeBaron and Meredith on every series. Packers won like 40 to nothing. It was Ray Nitschke's first start and he had two interceptions. At that time, Lambeau was called City Field. Remember watching Willie Wood return punts and telling everyone he would never make it in the NFL.

Losing in the first round is one thing and I think making the playoffs usually has value but I genuinely would rather the Bengals miss the playoffs than lose by 30+ in the first round. Browns and Cowboys fans must feel miserable.
Ehh, honestly, it was a miracle the Browns made the playoffs this year with all the injuries they had. It wasn’t just the QB. The OL was pretty much Bitonio and a bunch of backups. Chubb out. Multiple injuries on D all year. Obviously, not great losing by 30, but making the playoffs this year was an accomplishment.

The Browns had an outstanding year...and it still ended in a first rd blowout in the playoffs. The problem is that the DeShawn Watson bills are coming due in more ways than one. I don't know how many more times they can restructure his deal but his cap hit as of now jumps from $19mill this year to $64 mill in 2024. His dead cap hit is a non starter and out of the question. Because of Watson their first pick in the draft won't be until late in the 2nd rd.
They had the top defense in the NFL this year. There's nowhere to go but down from there

Yep and this site shows Dallas had the #30 most difficult schedule this year. (The Bengals were #1 of course). What made it all the more interesting is that Dallas not only beat these bad teams. They beat them into submission, making it seem like Dallas was really better than they were.
I think the entire NFC was weak this year. Even the 49ers were just a mere 2-3 vs the AFC

To start the season the Browns had the best roster in the NFL. They lost a lot through through attrition. I always felt like Flacco was fools gold. He looked good beating up on bad or down teams. Felt like it was all coming due in the playoffs. It was a fun story for the NFL and Cleveland.
Watson at the time was a massive risk, and is turning out to be a gigantic miss. The guaranteed contract he has requires him to play like a top tier QB, which he isn't. They really need to hit on their later round draft picks, which they have done with Jones and Hickman to name a couple. But it will be an uphill battle for them over the next few years.

Great games but one just turned 22 and started as a Day 1 rookie while the other is from the same draft class as Joe Burrow, Tua, Herbert and Hurts. Sat around for three years learning the offense from Matt LaFleur and Aaron Rodgers and will soon get really expensive.

These playoff games show that there is a massive gap between the top 4-5 guys (I'd maybe be willing to put Stroud all the way up to #5) and the next tier (Dak, Tua, Cousins). Against most teams, the guys in the second tier look like the guys in the elite tier. But when the pressure ramps up and the windows get tighter, there is a massive gap. QB is by far the most important position, but there are so few real difference makers. We're so lucky to have one in Burrow.

I think Dak is that guy who checks all the boxes and is a boarderline franchise QB. He is good enough to win a game but can he win multiple games in a row against good teams?
Did anyone expect Miami to win the game in KC. The moment they lost to Buffalo the week prior, their season was over. They just couldn't go north to win a game in the cold. They needed multiple home games to advance in the playoffs.
I think the elite QB's in the game give you a chance to win as long as they are healthy. Its a good feeling when you have Burrow on your team.

Browns are going to be interesting next season. I guess Watson's going to be healthy to start the season but can he stay healthy? The Browns didn't really need him but when Watson is at the top of his form, he's among the best. But Watson's the type of guy who takes up all the oxygen in the room. I seem to think he's similar to Kyrie Irving. Talented AF but there's always something going on there and it's not usually positive.

On top of what 3 firsts?
1st (#9 in '23) - Traded to Philadelphia for #10 and a 2024 4th. Took OT Darnell Wright at #10. Wright started all 17 games at RT this season.
2nd (#61 in '23) - Traded along with a 5th to move up to #56 and take CB Tyrique Stevenson who emerged late this year and looks like he's going to be a solid starting CB.
WR DJ Moore - 2023 ranks - Rec 96 (13th), Yards 1,364 (6th), TDs 8 (tied for 8th)
1st ('24 #1 overall)
2nd (2025)
If Young doesnt develop into at least a league average starter with some shiny moments this will be what defines Teppers career as the owner. This trade is going to be the catalyst that boosts Chicago into contention and cripples Carolina for years to come.
With that being said im slightly torn on what Chicago should do, though I think the best outcome is for them to draft Caleb Williams and get a team like Atlanta to cough up some picks for Fields. I'm slightly torn because I like Fields but I just dont see how Chicago can pass on Williams.

I don’t get the love for Williams, it’s like Jamarcus Russell and Josh Rosen had a love child and it’s Caleb Williams. The teams with good d.. he didn’t really do much, teams with undermanned/bad ds he ran up stats. Granted his d provided no support. I’m glad LV is low enough that I don’t think they are in contention.

I'm slightly torn because I like Fields but I just dont see how Chicago can pass on Williams.OTOH the last time the Bears took a QB from North Carolina it did not end well for them. (Trubisky)
I'd kinda like to see Jayden Daniels blow up the combine and go first over both of them.

Its true either Chicago either takes a QB or gets another haul of picks from someone else... This might not be the right board (local biases) but would you consider Marvin Harrison, Jr. for #1 IF the trade offers for #1 aren't appetizing or you taking the "best of" and try to position for him at like 3-4.

Per Fox59:
In 2021, the team purchased a 326-acre former racecourse in Arlington Heights for just shy of $200 million fueling speculation of a move out to the suburbs for the Bears. Recently, the Bears said their attempt to build a stadium may not just be focused on Arlington Heights, however, opening the door for other options.

1995. I remember at the time the absurdity of the idea to use Gary, Indiana as leverage. But it worked as the NFL was in full relocation and stadium hostage mode in the mid to late 90s.

Yea, it’s pretty wild to me that they went conservative there and played for overtime after what happened in the final seconds of regulation against KC two years ago.
Keep your foot on the gas and play to win.
Mahomes against the Ravens defense will be interesting.
If Detroit advances to the SB and faces off against the Ravens, it may not be pretty. Unless the Lions study film and make the adjustments. The Ravens destroyed them, at home, 38-6. Lamarr 21/27 for 357 yds, 3 TDs. Baltimore also rushed for 146 yds, and put up over 500 yards total.
I thought the Texans did a solid job in the first half containing Lackson. But I guess you can only contain him for so long. But everyone knows the best way to beat Jackson is to keep him in the pocket.

Tonight the Bills:
- both rushed & passed for 180+ yds
- had 0 giveaways & took 0 sacks
- had < 30 penalty yds

No other NFL team in the Super Bowl era has done all that in the same game (reg or post). They still ended up losing.

He had Brady but McDaniels and O'Brien mostly ran the offense.
The problem with Belichick is that we all saw the Patriot Way was Brady. The Falcons seem like a guinea pig to try to recreate it but if Bill brings in his people from the Pats (McDaniels, Patricia) it may be a culture clash with the players already there. He may just need to retire.

You can't lost 2 home playoff games back to back like that...he got a pass on the first one but the loss to KC is difficult as every single bounce went there way and they still got beat.
My issue with McDermott has always been the same when games get close he starts coaching to not lose instead of coaching to win. The late 4th quarter play calling was atrocious.

Not to take anything away from the Bengals but they just trounced the Bills in Buffalo in the snow. And it's not that the Bengals won, it's how they won. You shouldn't beat a team like that on the road in conditions favorable to the home team like that. That said, I don't know what the deal is with Buffalo. They played an almost flawless game on Sunday. But almost flawless isn't enough enough against the Chiefs. Is Allen to blame? McDermott? Sometimes the playoffs are luck. You can win every game and still lose in the Super Bowl like NE did that one year.

Harbaugh to the Chargers is the right fit. He'll already have a QB. They need to shed a ton of salary, so he can do a complete reset of the roster (which he'll like) and clear up a ton of cap space in 2025. That means they'll most likely be pretty bad in 2024, but there's a path towards being competitive again soon while he gets to reshape the roster how he wants it.

The NFL pushed the panic button
They have a ref in their rotation who is a MASSIVE edge to road teams
Road teams win at the #1 highest rate with him...
He penalizes home teams in ways no other ref does... and...
He's calling the Chiefs road game

So what if it was uncatchable? If you throw the ball over a receiver's head, it's not grounding.
Item 1. Passer or Ball Outside Tackle Position. Intentional grounding will not be called when a passer, who is outside, or has been outside, the tackle position, throws a forward pass that lands at or beyond the line of scrimmage, even if no offensive player(s) have a realistic chance to catch the ball (including when the ball lands out of bounds over the sideline or endline). If the ball crosses the line of scrimmage (extended) beyond the sideline, there is no intentional grounding. If a loose ball leaves the area bordered by the tackles, this area no longer exists; if the ball is recovered, all intentional grounding rules apply as if the passer is outside this area.
