He was working his way through college as a receiving clerk at JC Penney and playing in bands on weekends. It was at this time that his love for this well-to-do sorority girl inspired him to write what would turn out to be one of his most enduring songs. The song was about his desire to whisk this girl off on a bus ride up to the California redwoods. It was a dream he never got to fulfill. She dumped him before he had the chance.

Who is he and what was the song?
I know this one. Eddie Money and Two Tickets to Paradise. I saw him on this tour in 1977 at the Agora up in Cleveland. Great show.

The song's title is borrowed from an old Liverpool folk song about a prostitute. It became the rocker's breakthrough hit, launching a career that has spanned more than six decades and has seen him sell more than 250 million records(albums and singles combined) worldwide.

What was this hit song that was inspired by an embarrassing sexual encounter at 16 years of age ?
I know this one too. Maggie May by Rod Stewart. It was “our song” with a brief fling that Roy had in 1972. Ended up in the Athens PD when she came to visit me at Ohio U unannounced. She was only 16 and she didn’t tell her parents where she was going. Yikes.

The song's title bears the name that she said would have been the name of her child, had it been a girl.

What's the name of song and the songwriter and who was the filthy animal that impregnated her?
I am fairly certain it’s Fleetwood Mac’s Sara. As for the answer to the second question - I am not 100 per cent certain here and I can’t ask the audience or phone a friend - I will go with Don Henley…Final Answer.

Fire by the Pointer Sisters, originally a Springsteen song.

I saw him in 2011 at our festival here in town. One of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. So personable. Eddie was a solid performer in the 70's and '80s. Good music. RIP.

    11. In 1985, after David Lee Roth officially parted ways with Van Halen, Eddie Van Halen became fast friends with this female rocker from NY. Eddie, at the urging of his wife, Valerie, went to see her in concert, met her, even hung out on her tour bus for three days and joined her on stage. One day, out of the blue, Eddie asked her if she wanted to join his band as lead singer. Newly married and eight months pregnant and having no desire to move cross country to California, she turned down his offer immediately. In the years following , there were times when she regretting that decision, or at least not giving it more consideration, even though she went on to enjoy considerable success on her own. She also has a connection to that filthy animal, Don Henley.

Who could have been lead singer of Van Halen had she not told Eddie "Goodbye to You" ?

    Stevie Nicks?

Just noticed the last hint. Scandal did that song, but don’t know the singers name

I won a call-in radio contest, got 4 tickets and a chance to talk to Eddie Money himself. This was probably 6 hours before the concert and Eddie was already well lubricated. He put on a good show though.

In 2003, at the Cincinnati Oktoberfest on Fountain Square, Eddie was the headliner. Let's just say the Eagles had nothing on Eddie when it came to lip-syncing. The beer was flowing and nobody cared. He led the crowd in the world's longest chicken dance. It was hilarious. He was chicken dancing all over the stage. Money certainly knew how to have a good time.
