12. Rod Stewart took this composition to #1 on the UK singles chart and to #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 1977. Rod released it as a double A-side single with "I Don't Want to Talk About It."
Nearly three decades later, Sheryl Crow charted with it and peaked at #14, seven spots higher that Hot Rod landed on the Hot 100. Sheryl also took it to #1 on the AC chart.
The first person to chart with the song was Keith Hampshire back in 1973, when he reached #70. The song was written in 1965 and then sold for the equivalent of about 40 bucks, leading to its first release in 1967, by P.P. Arnold, one of Ike and Tina Turner's backup singers. The song's author included it on his 1967 album but never released it as a single.
Can you name the song(of course, you can) AND the songwriter?
